Voc-Tech school store has clothing, supplies and hands-on experience

NEW BEDFORD – The Den at Grand New Bedford Voc-Tech eventually opened its doors to students, staff and community members selling designer clothes and school supplies.

An ongoing project for many years, the construction of The Den has provided hands-on learning opportunities for students and staff.

“We are extremely fortunate to work with and have access to a multitude of in-house career and technical resources and programs. Thank you to everyone who made our vision a reality, ”instructors Jenn Carreiro and Crystal Vasconcelos said in a press release.

Voc-Tech students helped build, render, design and business model for The Den, school officials said.

Due to the pandemic, the project schedule has been extended, but students in vocational and vocational technical education have worked hard despite the setback to get The Den up and running, according to Superintendent-Director Michael Watson. The students have gained first-hand experience throughout the process and are now able to see how they have contributed to the physical planes, Watson continued.

The store will be operated primarily by instructors and students of business technology to “create a continuous and real experience of business operations.”

“It’s not just a product, but an extension of some learning,” Watson said.

While the students who contributed can enjoy the store while they are enrolled in Voc-Tech, it is a project they will remember and share with their children who could potentially attend Voc-Tech someday as well, Watson said. .
