SajKe, a local clothing brand that is revolutionizing the way people view block printing

Being the sixth largest apparel industry, India’s fashion industry stands at $59.3 billion in 2022. SajKe, founded in 2019 by a budding young entrepreneur and fashion enthusiast who started to revolutionize fashion with its evolutionary approach to showcasing modern silhouettes in classic Indian textiles has now become a coveted brand.

The brainchild of Divya Advani Bharwani, SajKe sums up the very essence of dressing. This young entrepreneur set foot in the industry at the age of 18 by taking over her father’s business after his untimely death. Having known and experienced working in the real world, Divya decided to challenge traditional societal norms and pursue her dream of launching her record label.

One of the country’s inspiring young women who are slowly shattering the glass ceiling, Divya stands tall and proud today, with SajKe being one of the country’s most up-and-coming fashion brands.

SajKe embodies the ethnicity of India’s rich culture with a modern twist. He reintroduces the world with the long-lost Indian textile culture by incorporating the arts of Kalamkari, Ajrakh and Hand Block printing into his designs. SajKe has taken on the responsibility of reviving the meticulous art of hand block printing in mainstream fashion.

Hand block printing is an intricate art of making absolutely stunning textile pieces. At SajKe, each block is a unique, exclusive and never seen before design. From the initial design of the block, to carving the patterns on wooden pieces and creating patterns on pure cotton fabric, SajKe carries out the entire process with the utmost precision and care.

This women-led organization run by the boss, Divya, along with her sister and co-founder Bhavna Panjabi, has become a successful brand. With entirely in-house manufacturing and production of fine garments, SajKe has generated jobs and livelihoods, especially for women.

Indian culture is best reflected in people who are connected to the roots of this culture. Our culture resonates with the simple manners of a girl dancing in a ghagra choli or an old lady who exudes elegance and panache in her head as she spins the banarasi saree. It is this rawness that inspires SajKe and brings freshness to his clothes.

Weaving a symphony of Indian textiles and modern silhouettes, SajKe is a green label that advocates and practices sustainability. Pure cotton fabrics are sourced from Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) certified suppliers. The fabric is handmade, maintaining absolute authenticity while reducing the carbon footprint. Doing their bit for the environment, SajKe recycles every piece of fabric as it spins. Pieces of extra cut-out dresses and tops are recycled into beautiful book covers and reusable packaging cases.

SajKe has on board ethical suppliers and certified vendors who provide top quality fabrics and fabrics. To ensure that the quality of the material remains the same throughout, SajKe has employed trained quality checkers who inspect each thread of the fabric before it is made into one of SajKe’s extraordinary pieces.
