Constantly Create Shop is a custom apparel company that serves small businesses, brands, schools, and just about any occasion you can think of that calls for making t-shirts and hats, according to founder DJ Kinslow.

“We can embellish anything for anyone, whether you just need a few t-shirts printed with your logo or hundreds of shirts and hats for your business…we can do it,” a- he declared.

Constantly Create Shop, while still a relative newcomer to the industry, has already amassed an impressive array of high-profile clients, including New York Yankees, Brooklyn Nets, MTA, Starbucks, FDNY, Hip artists Hop and many more. The runway during New York Fashion Week also featured a number of fashionable shirts fresh off the press from Constantly Create Shop.

In addition to their commercial quality embroidery, Constantly Create Shop also specializes in screen printing and DTG (Direct-To-Garment) printing.

“Screen printing is the most well-known t-shirt printing method that is used for bulk orders, while DTG is a newer technology that allows you to print unlimited color in small quantities.” said DJ. “If you needed to print a photo on a t-shirt, for example, DTG is the solution. If your company has a simpler logo with 1 to 3 colors, screen printing is the solution. We offer both, this which allows us to not only serve every customer no matter how many shirts they need, but also to offer them something new with our full-color DTG technology.

DJ noted that all production is done and overseen in-house to help maintain quality control. And when it comes to the types of clothes Constantly Create Shop can spruce up, the sky’s the limit.

“Our most requested item types are t-shirts, hats, hoodies and jackets.” he said. “We usually supply the garments to the customer, but if they want to print or embroider specific items, they have the option of shipping them to us or dropping them off at our shop.”

However, if you’re looking to get your logo printed on shirts or anything else for commercial purposes – but haven’t created your company logo yet or need to revise it – DJ said Constantly Create Shop can also help you.

“We have a team of graphic designers who can create your company logo from scratch. It’s a personalized service that allows the customer to be in direct communication with a designated designer who will design their logo,” he says. “We’re a one-stop-shop for any business…we can design their logo, then turn around and print it on t-shirts, hats, whatever they need.”

Constantly Create Shop comes from humble beginnings; in 2016, DJ decided to use his creative passions and convert a small part of his basement into a makeshift printing shop, where he would print his own designs onto t-shirts and sell them on eBay.

“I started the business in my laundry room, which was a very small 6ft by 6ft room. I have a strong passion for sports and art, so I mixed the two together and I started designing t-shirts and selling them on eBay,” he said. “At first I just started selling them for $11 with free shipping, not making any money just to prove the concept, but soon I started selling so many that I knew I was onto something.”

It was during this time that DJ realized he could not only bring his own designs to life, but he could also help others print shirts for their businesses and brands.

“I was searching Instagram on custom clothing store pages, and I couldn’t find any, maybe 2 or 3 at most and they never posted anything,” he said. “I created the Instagram Constantly Create Shop that night and soon I was designing and printing clothes not only for myself, but also for other people, and shipping orders all over the country.”

Fast forward 5 years later, the Constantly Create Shop Instagram page now has 138,000 followers and in June 2020 moved into its current 5,000 square foot production facility in New Hyde Park.

“We expanded the store we are currently in right after the pandemic started…COVID or not, we had to expand. We had no choice at that time,” he said. “The garage was full, the basement was full, I remember the times we put tarps over boxes of t-shirts in the driveway so they wouldn’t get wet in the rain.”

COVID-19 has created a huge void in the custom apparel industry, leaving customers with very few options for creating garments.

“The pandemic has forced many clothing stores to close,” DJ said. “Walk-in traffic was non-existent due to lockdown measures and the only place customers could shop was online, and by then we had already established a strong social media community and presence. on line.”

That being said, DJ saw a huge opportunity to capitalize on the number of custom clothing stores that closed during the height of COVID, and began to publicize that Constantly Create Shop was open for business and continued to take orders.

“We would really like to support a lot of businesses and schools that need clothes,” he said. “The stores that have unfortunately closed, I embrace them, but it has allowed us to create more opportunities because their customer base now needs somewhere to go. No one could have predicted COVID, but it really shows to how important it is to have an online presence.

As for the volume of a given order, DJ said Constantly Create Shop can handle anything customers throw at them, regardless of the size of the order. The average turnaround time is usually two weeks, more or less, depending on the quantity and complexity of the order.

As well as handling their own volume of orders, their growing reputation for quality and service has led a number of other shops to outsource their work to Constantly Create Shop, whether it’s an embroidery order , screen printing or DTG.

“Having a passionate team and maintaining good relationships has certainly contributed to the tremendous growth of the company,” he said. “Relationships are more powerful than money.”

DJ is also associated with one of the world’s largest clothing manufacturers, Gildan, serving on the company’s Decorators Council, which is a small, hand-picked team of the country’s most innovative clothing store owners. Board members primarily serve as liaisons between Gildan and their clients.

“Serving on the board is something I’m proud of, it shows that my attention to detail has been recognized on a much larger scale.” said DJ. “My creativity and feedback is shared directly with the manufacturer on what the end user is looking for and how they can innovate and move the industry forward.”

However, looking back to his humble beginnings and then quickly moving forward to where he is today, DJ noted that one of the people he can most credit his success to is his high school art teacher, Mr. Fox, who he says fed a lot. and inspired his passion for art.

“If I walked into a high school and every room was an art lesson, I would definitely be able to tell which room is Mr. Fox’s. He really helped shape and inspire my creative approach,” he said. “I told him that if he wasn’t my art teacher for 4 years straight, I don’t know if Constantly Create Shop would exist, and I really meant it.”

At the end of the day, DJ said it was a surreal feeling to have taken something he started in his cramped basement and turned it into a very successful – and still growing – business. .

“We have a really passionate team at the store. Everyone is here because they love the creative work we do and care about the end product we make for our customers. We are a cohesive group and every day is different, no two orders are the same. It’s what keeps us all intrigued and looking our best.
